well i finally caught up on sleep today after the big northeast folk convention over the weekend where i totally depleted myself and slept poorly and infrequently on a hard bed that felt like i was sleeping directly on the boxsprings. i sure have gotten soft since getting married, getting the sweetest dog on the planet (see userpic), and getting the most comfortable bed imaginable. Joe is too good to me. I really am turning into a mush. Say goodbye to the Carla of "Corny Schlocky Sappy Songs."
Oh well we'll always have the recording.

Meanwhile I had another acting class today. It's not nearly as challenging or organized as the ones I took in NYC, but hey it's around the corner from my house. and cheap. Thank the Lord because it's so damn COLD this week! Oy! It's hard to motivate and leave the warm house in this weather.

Speaking of which I really need to go grocery shopping. I had a peanut butter sandwich and a leftover slice of pizza today. and a few pretzels. :-/

You're taking acting? Great. May I suggest improv?

I only had one acting class in my life (summer school) but read a lot about it, especially Stanislavski. Then, I watched a hell of a lot of improv at Disney's Comedy Warehouse (sadly closed two months ago). And now I'm doing a little acting in a radio drama.

The great thing about improv is, you have to develop a rapport with the other actors and take your cues from them. When the actors really work together, it can be magic.

yeah i took an 8-session class in NY city a couple years ago and loved it.
I also took a week-long, 2-hour a day morning class at a unitarian camp thing where i was teaching songwriting in the afternoons. about 7 years ago. i was hooked!
I don't see any improv classes in NJ, otherwise I'd be in one here. NYC is a royal pain to get to, and the classes are an 8-class commitment, which means i can't have any conflicts for 8 weeks. you really can't miss a class. but i do eventually want to go do it again. those are the best of the best teaching in NYC.

Why not have a "toasted chicken sandwich and a big glass of sweet ice tea"??

(hehe)
